Senator.Figueroa@sen.ca.gov
Good day, Senator Figueroa: As long as Gmail would be a voluntary opt-in to use its service, I don't understand why you oppose it when the people who would opt-in should understand their loss of privacy. If your concern is for the people who send email to the user(s) of a Gmail account, then what if Gmail were to send an auto-response to every email received that their (the senders) email is scanned by computer for keywords so that related ads would appear by their email when viewed by the user? This would allow the senders to seek other ways of communicating with the user if they feel uncomfortable with having their privacy intruded upon, even if it is by a machine. I for one hope you fail in your efforts, as I would use the email account for newsletters I receive for investment-related and computer-related subjects. When I'm away from my computer for a couple of days, I must quickly catch up or my newsletters will bounce back to the senders due to a full inbox. Surely in my case, privacy is not a concern.
