Hey, it doesn't cost much to make nice with the EC. Talk is cheap by anyone's standards -- and it might actually keep from having the fines cranked up. It's like found money, even if not much.

On the other hand, Microsoft would have to be crazy to actually comply with the documentation order. They expect the Court of First Instance to rule in the Spring, and if the Court rules for them [1] then putting the genie back in the bottle is going to be hard.

All in all, it's better to pay the fines. They're just a cost of doing business.

[1] I'm not betting, thanks.
