Wishing CodeGear the best
Visual Basic coders probably do not know that many of the controls they use day in and day out were built using Delphi which was a Borland tool. The Borland Paradox product was always light years ahead of Access and Visual Basic and there are businesses today that still maintain systems in ObjectPal - a language not unlike Java - or use the Borland Data Base engine, an engine shared by many Borland products and supported by many others.

The IDE for Paradox/Object Pal is what IBM strives for in its Rational Application Design/ Websphere product line. The visual java editor for Eclipes within IBM's Rational Application Developer product approaches what was/is available in the ObjectPal/Paradox IDE.

CodeGear has an excellent opportunity in creating for Eclipes, the same rich visual development environment Borland had with Paradox and may have with JBuilder. Eclipes is open source and is intended for just this kind of thing. Eclipes is part of IBM's RAD. I understand that Oracle is already doing something similar with its IDE. Go for it CodeGear! Count me as one future customer. Wish you could keep the proud Borland name.
