re: Simple execution
I like your approach muktuk. Then we could post a video of the execution, by firing squad, not by lethal injection, on the internet as a warning to other spammers. Note that this would be on a web page, not emailed as spam, except maybe direct emailing to the spammers' mailboxes. Kinda like a "you're next" notice. Of course more moderate people might think this approach is too extreme. I would argue that the approach of letting spammers run roughshod over the rest of the internet community is extreme.

I would argue that we should include virus writers too.

On the flip side, my isp does nothing to filter content to its subscribers, and I get more spam than legitimate email. That is in spite of being on numerous emailing lists such as this one. I never use my work email address for these lists. That may be part of why I never receive spam there. I have given up using my yahoo email account because it receives a few hundred spam messages per day. It's the one I give out when I suspect the email address requestor is collecting addresses for spam lists. At least my regular email address only gets 40-50 spam messages per day instead of 200-300.
