Let's criticize Microsoft; they did something.
Guess it doesn't matter what exactly they did, though. If Microsoft doesn't follow standards, knock 'em for it. If they change to follow standards, their efforts aren't good enough, or took to long. If they try to work with other vendors, it's a ploy, an evil scheme to keep them in business. If they don't work with other vendors, it's a evil scheme to put other companies out of business. If they don't change their OS, they're stagnating. If they do change it, they are 'forcing' people to upgrade.

I wish, just occasionally, that Microsoft critics had some rational basis for their relentless, mind-numbing (and often vulgar) attacks. But most of these posts reveal a hatred driven by fanaticism that defies explanation or justification. You are not simply pointing out flaws in a big corporation that you disagree with. You have become bullies, and ZdNet provides you with a bully pulpit, where you can insult, bash, and hurl venomous remarks with impunity.

I wish, for once, all you critics would use your supposed knowledge and expertise to benefit someone, instead of wishing harm to Microsoft or anyone else you disagree with. Let's see LinuxGeek help someone configure a Linux system or recommend good development tools, instead of acting like a juvenile brat. Let's see Mike Cox use his expertise on Windows in a tech support forum, instead of favoring us with his one-man stand-up monologue with his imaginary "rep".

Yeah, you guys criticize Microsoft all day long for what they do, no matter what it is. I am criticizing you, for what YOU are doing: Nothing. Nothing that is useful or beneficial to anyone else, that is.
