Adopted faster than XP? Yeah! So ...
what? XP was released in the middle of a recession. That's one of the reasons why it was slow to be adopted in the enterprise. Today, IT spending is up, way up, so it only stands to reason that Vista will be adopted more quickly. Nevertheless, adoption of Vista will be tied directly to hardware life-cycles. It will take three to fave years for the the large enterprise to turn over all of its workstations. That means at least two or three years before the majority of workstaions found in the enterprise will be Vista capable without upgrades. Lasty year's mahcines iwll need only minor upgrades so the cost of a complete transition will not drop to reasonable levels before late 2008 or early 2009, the first cut-off point for Windows XP support.
