... he was building suspense and campaigning for appreciation, as he admitted.


I don't know if the analyst who said 20% Vista adoption in the first year knew about the poll when he made his comment.

Even if he were discounting the poll, the contrast between XP and Vista situations is substantial.

Given that W2K, not very different, arrived the year before, many companies were already in process of rolling out the earlier operating system. There was no reason to stop one process in order to start another.

Sometimes contexts are important. And sometimes the impossible happens when those involved are convinced it's necessary.
