"Speedy adoption"? They wish!
While WinXP has finally achieved some notable market saturation, it took quite awhile to gain momentum. With Vista, there will be a lot of testing needed to ensure it works with existing applications and that it doesn't outstrip the specs of current business desktops. This will take at least a year for businesses to get comfortable with before they even begin to consider rolling it out. Microsoft still hasn't gotten Windows 2000 out of the way yet, they won't be able to chase Windows XP out any easier.
