You hit the nail on the head. The majority of users only need simple word
processing and spreadsheets. For most companies, less features would be better than more features, since they don NOT want secrataries spending hours formatting simple memos.

Really, the upgrade that makes the most sense right now is to OpenOffice so that you can drop all of the software payments and just pay for support.

Sure, you could keep MS Office for the few that really need it, but you will likely find that the power users would be better off with a publishing package. Employees often waste huge ammounts of time using a generica word processor like MS word for publishing tasks.
