MUST keep yer cable TV
Sorry to hear that!! I am on CHARTER CABLE here in LALA land. I DO NOT have to use their TV service to get my Cable Modem connection (3M/512K).

Most likely what is happening there is that they have not figured out how to separate the TV signal from the Broadband signal so you would get "free TV" if you only had Broadband service like what happened here when Charter first debuted their Broadband service.

Of course there is always DIREC-PC service from DirecTV. Dunno if DISH Network has it as well or not. Basically, it's one-way broadband; ya still need a landline for the upstream (at least for now).
