It is illegal for anyone to send you a junk fax. That was outlawed many years ago. I don't recall the exact law. As for television ads, that is part of getting the service for "free" - at least before cable and sattelite. Personally, I think sattelite and cable should be free or free from ads. And, with the do-not-call list, telemarketers do not have the right to call you.
