I think the real truth is starting to be shown...
Red Hat was becoming something of a real player in the server market. So Microsoft teams up with an underdog like Novell and uses Novell to take down Red Hat. Once Red Hat becomes a more manageable threat then Microsoft will turn the screws on Novell making them look like a problem and weakening their position. Then Microsoft comes back and elevates their strangle hold on the world. It's much like a page out of our military history when we recruited black men into the military and then sent them to the front lines to kill our enemies for us. So for the racist people in power (in this analogy...Microsoft) they killed two birds with one stone...kill the external enemy (in this analogy...Red Hat) and get rid of some of the black men in the process (in this analogy...Novell).

Very smart actually. Microsoft must have a team of psychologists and historians working for them to help them be such master manipulators.
