Spellchecker?
Since when has IE had an integrated spell checker?

As I sit here using Win XP SP1 (it's a corporate machine) with IE 6.0.2800.1106xpsp2.030422-1633 (heavens, that's more like a licence key than a version number!) and type into the "Body:" text box, guess what? No spell checker!

Think I'll go back to Firefox now ... I like tabbed browsing.

Incidentally, you didn't respond to ab12's question, which is why do MS keep changing the interface, making upgrades a pain? I use XP with the "Classic" interface, make life so much simpler. I can't stand the ugly primary colour scheme of XP default. When I go home to OS X it seems so beautifully clean and elegant - it's nice just to look at.

The other question asked is why MS keep piling on new features when old ones either don't work properly or are very badly implemented. Try numbering in Word for an example of a seriously crappy implementation.

The main penetration of XP has been from new computer sales, not from customers choosing to upgrade. Even corporations who have paid for XP licences are staying on older versions. What does that tell you about consumer perceptions of MS and Windows? What does that tell you about the onerous cost of an XP upgrade?

Incidentally, XP is the most expensive PC OS, making MS a tidy 80% nett profit. Not a bad little earner, eh?
