I though this thread was about user friendlyness and security. If that's the case the points made are valid. You can combine a user friendly interface with a secure OS. No matter what the OS is. MS made strategic decision to put the user in the driver seat. That's great and I agree PC's wouldn't be where they are now if they hadn't. Could they have done this without throwing security issues out of the window(s)? As the other OS's demonstrate the could/should have.

The problems with windows are stemming from that decision earlier in it's life. The fact that with every new version these decisions have come back to haunt MS must be recognized as well. I think MS will never solve this problem as long as they refuse to rethink the entire basis of windows. Re-design it with security at heart and add the user friendly gui to that and not the otherway around. Now all they can do is patch an OS that is already riddled with ad hoc solutions to basic design flaws, wich is never a good idea.
