You're not being very discerning.
"And shame on you if you ever load a file by double-clicking
(which translates to "shame on you if you use a Mac", after all)."

Your statement reveals a real lack of understanding. If you're
using Windows, double clicking an e-mail attachment elicits a
warning that what you're doing "might" be dangerous. This
happens regardless of whether the file is an executable, which
could do damage, or a totally innocuous text file. Windows
doesn't make any distinction. If you first save that file, then
double click it, you get no warning at all, again regardless of
what kind of file it is.

On a Macintosh, it's not a matter of where the file came from,
but rather, what it is trying to do. If it's a text file or an ordinary
executable, it just opens or runs. The worst that can happen if
it's an executable is that it might delete files, but at least you
know it's an application, and it's up to you whether you want to
run it or not. But if a program tries to modify the system, you
are prompted to enter an administrative password, so at this
point you should have a pretty good ideal if that's a legitimate
action for the program to take or not.

The problem with the MP3 trojan is that the user is unable to tell
that the file is executable--something that apparently happens
on Windows all the time. It accomplishes this by hiding
executable code in the ID3 tag, which, if you ask me, is a flaw in
the MP3 file spec, or at worst, a flaw in the way OS X accesses
this tag, and one which they will undoubtedly fix shortly.

All security systems aren't the same. The Unix security system is
a lot better. If all you know is Windows, you probably aren't
capable of appreciating this, but having used both, I see the
distinction very clearly.
