Recent April 5th security update fixed this.
For added security Apple has updated how running as root functions. Previously if a user ran as root they would have a set amount of time to perform various tasks requring root access. I believe the time limit was five minutes. With the latest security update (April 5) each task requiring root acess the user has to enter the root password. So if the user happened to click on a trojan file and the trojan attempts to do something malicious (for example erase the hard drive) a window would pop up asking for a root password. Inexperienced users likely either would not have root access or not know what password to provide and experienced users would know not to provide root access. The Tojan very likely will not gain root access and could do little damage.

The April 5 security update chances how root access is granted, very likely to prevent such a trojan from damaging a Mac OS. Very likely the change in how root access is granted (task by task) has been implemented by Apple to combat this type of trojan. I am surprized David Becker did not know about the recent change to root access.
