Letter to Microsoft
Marja Koopmans, Director of Channel and Business Strategy for Office Live recently let let loose with this beauty of a quote. "They are saying 'I'm not looking to replace my desktop.'" Koopmans continues with "That's really what we are focusing on with Office Live. We don't rule out anything for the future."
First, don't you just love when a person refers to group of people as "they". Second, I've been dealing with Microsoft and their overpriced, average software since 1988 and personally can't wait to move my remaining desktop applications, online. Third, I don't ever remember Microsoft being concerned with what the customer wants. Microsoft always has been, and always will be a dictatorship. The Microsoft business model is built on telling people what they need to do, and what Microsoft overpriced, average software will accomplish the task in a semi-reasonable fashion.

You can bet that if Microsoft had a true online office suite, "They" would be saying "I'm looking to replace my desktop and move online." And so, another week, another incredibly stupid quote from Microsoft.

The messenger keeps changing. It used to be Steve Ballmer's job to constantly put out ridiculous quotes for all to hear. But thankfully, someone finally stuck a sock in his mouth. Now it seems, every week, someone new is at the podium. Seems like a concerted effort by Microsoft to distract us, so we don't notice that Microsoft really has no online strategy.

I'm guessing, there is really only one question left to answer. Now that Ballmer's main purpose in life has been redistributed to other Microsoft personnel, what exactly does he do?
