There's no compelling reason to use WMP. Maybe if they release a new version without DRM/CRAP, I'd consider downloading it.

There was no mention of actually using the DRM bits of WMP, only that WMP should be released without any DRM bits at all. Just like iTunes though, WMP can be used to play songs that aren't protected with DRM.

iTunes sells what, 3%, maybe 4% of purchased music.

Along with the information above, I think you would agree that iTunes is installed on much more than 3% of computers even if it has DRM support built into it. The statement that WMP11 won't be successful because it has DRM support (which doesn't need to be used) is properly countered with the iTunes example. WMP11 may fail but it won't have anything to do with the fact that it supports DRMed content. As long as it continues to support unprotected content, it will be fine.
