Interesting approach.
I have to say I didn't start out as a fan of Ubuntu, but I've been very impressed with Dapper and especially Edgy. One thing they clearly understood from the beginning was the importance of mindshare. If a large percentage of linux users run your distro, you matter in a way that you wouldn't otherwise matter. One of the most fascinating things to me is how with OSS everyone contributes, even if they don't intend to. I think Suse and Mandriva could both learn a lesson here.

Now that they clearly have mindshare it will be interesting to see if they can pull off the goal of becoming profitable. I wish them luck, but this won't be easy.
