Is piracy really the problem Milly?
You seem to imply Microsoft is losing tons of money. Well, until recently they really didn't have anti-piracy measures and their company has not seemed to hurt in the slightest with profits continuing to soar making it one of the most powerful companies on the planet.

This fact in and of itself shows what a bunch of BS it is when companies like Microsoft (you can lump in record and movie labels here) try to promote their anti-piracy campaigns with BS claims of the billions being lost to piracy.

Piracy is over sensationalized and not nearly the problem these companies would like you to believe. As I stated in my post to that idiot Loverock, if people can't pirate it and can't afford it or refuse to put money into it, then they will usually either do without or find a free alternative. Very VERY few people will pirate because the MUST use this product. So the losses they claim are absurd on every level and not even close to accurate.

And no, don't be an idiot, this is not an attempt to justify theft or piracy. There is no justification. I'm just saying that making your legitimate customers go through this crap and claiming it is doing it because of massive losses that don't exist is also wrong. I'm also saying you need to have a more critical eye when reading news, company, and government propaganda. I haven't used Office outside of the workplace (which has legal copies) for several years now. I have a legal copy of XP pro which has become nothing more than a game console operating system (I like Battlefield 2 and a few other games) but otherwise everything else is on Ubuntu in my home.
My answer to the question of should I pirate or not was simple...upgrade my system to Linux and OpenOffice. happy
