- I've suffered Oracle support in the past... there's no threat there.

Since Oracle provides pricey yet horrible support for the products it wrote itself, I can't imagine that they are going to do much better with someone else's codebase.
Additionally, the Linux community doesn't need a big-shark to swim in and try to eat everyone for lunch. We have Linux User Groups (LUGs) who work together to help each other and offer mutual support. This is why proprietary software houses hate us so much; we don't need them, so they can't make a killing off of us.
Linux survives because of it's community, not because of Red Hat or any other single vendor -- Oracle's tactics won't work here.
We're *not* Peoplesoft, and we can't be bought off or forced out of business by yet-another-large-toothy-predator like Oracle.
Just my $0.02 and your opinion may vary...
