Tedious??
Are you talking Ubuntu here or Windows? Install time on an older secondary computer was super fast. And ran from the git go. My only problem was the resolution. Which thanks to the message boards, someone else had a similar problem and now it's running great. I had a teacher who suggested this if I wanted to try the Linux system and his main thing was that for most items, he was amazed how he could plug things in and just go. No installation required. Which indeed happened here. Recognized both cd drives, all my pen drives, my newer Logitech wireless mouse, Webcam without any installation. The only problem I've had so far is getting it to recognize the proper Brother printer model. But I'll mess around with that another day. So I guess you can call me impressed. I'm still a Windows fan, but I'd definately recommend this to people who don't exactly need a computer that runs video games and simply need it to boot fast, get online or need it for the office. Or just simply can't afford Microsoft. And I simply can't beat that boot time here.
