- What I can't figure out
-
Maybe a perfectly clean install, but in the office at meetings, my Linux machine boots much faster than XP (we all have the same laptop models). Now granted, the Windows VPN client adds 3-5 minutes to the process, but my machine is usually up before the Windows VPN client scripts start.
Shutdown is hilarious. I hit the power button; less than 10 seconds later the complete computer shuts down, doesn't matter how many applications are running. Start-->Shutdown process on Windows seems interminable compared to this, especially if you don't close FF or Thunderbird first.
I have neverr been a fan of Windows shutdown. You tell a Linux box to shutdown, it's going down, you tell a Windows machine to shutdown (W2K especially) and it thinks and thinks and thinks and sometimes the shutdown hung.
Now, Suspend to Ram, Windows wins hands down, however 45 seconds to start up and 10 seconds to shut down, I don't even use Linux's suspend.
