One problem with your theory
MS, wanting to keep the mystery alive as long as possible, is holding back and won't release this until the Zune hits the streets.

The "mystery"? I've been running it for more than a month in Vista and I'm 99% sure it has been available as a free download for XP for many months. I'm all for a good conspiracy theory but for something to be a "mystery", wouldn't that imply that they've kept it unavailable until release date?
