Re: IE 7
I didn't have any actual *problems* with IE7 - at least, nothing more serious than "now, where is the 'stop' button?" or "where has that menu option gone?" But this reflects in uncomfortable and less productive browsing, unless I undertook the effort to become more acquainted to IE's new weird interface (if Mozilla had NASA's help, Microsoft must have consulted with Monty Python!). And I saw no reason to spend all that time and energy, since I can always open a page or site using IE embedded in Firefox with the IE Tab and IE View extensions, or in Maxthon, which has a great, powerful yet user-friendly interface.

I don't currently need to access any Web front-end to corporate software, but I've had to do so in the past - and it would work only with IE, since a proprietary ActiveX control was needed. Still, Firefox's IE-embedding extensions or Maxthon would do that job now in most cases. My DSL connection is very stable (though of course it never reaches the full nominal promised speed), both with WinXP and Ubuntu (where it was a breeze to set up, and without any extra or proprietary software). And talking about that, with Firefox I can have the same familiar browser interface in both OS's.

It should also be mentioned that, while I have a lightning-fast Athlon 64 with 1 GB RAM and Windows XP, I know a lot of people with old machines - say, 200-MHz Pentium MMXs with 32 MB RAM and 4-GB HDs, even in workplace settings - that still do their job very well for their owners' needs, running Windows 98 (yes, in 2006!)... Firefox will work for them - IE 7 won't. And in many countries, especially in Europe, schools and governments now use only Linux on the desktop. Again, Firefox is there, IE is not.

So, what I'm saying is that I'm used to Firefox, its advantages over IE are more significant to me than the other way around, and there are workarounds I prefer to use when I actually need IE. But that's *my* case and experience - of course I understand there might be reverse situations as well: intranets optimized for IE, proprietary front-ends, as in your case, etc. For corporate users, even the company's policy could be a reason to use only IE - especially if you work with Mike Cox... wink Since I have none of those limitations, Firefox is still the best choice for me.
