Propaganda (false) about Real distribution.
The article says:
At the moment Microsoft includes its own media player in its Windows operating system, which is used to run almost all PCs. RealNetworks has to convince consumers to download its RealPlayer over the Internet and also change default settings. Only then can consumers start buying music and video from Real.

Poor, poor Real.

"... convince consumers to download..."??
As if most computers don't already come with their [insult] player pre-installed.

"... change default settings ..."?
If someone is going to keep the [insult] player on his pc, he has half an hour of default settings to change. That's including turning off the 50 different ways the software intends to phone home.

"... buying music and video from Real."??
There are other sources. If Real disappeared, they'd be lamented about as long as is necessary to do a net search for alternate providers.
For people who do buy through Real, enjoy. But the author implies hordes desperate to give Real their money. Not quite true.

And try this one:

RealNetworks made a $5.3 million fourth-quarter loss on 17 percent higher revenue of $54.1 million, partly because of large legal fees in its antitrust lawsuits against Microsoft.

Companies usually "make a profit" or "have a loss". Sounds like the author here was also set to compliment the apple of his eye on the company's wonderful profit, but had to change his words. At least there's an excuse, the antitrust law suits [plural]. Guess they couldn't be allowed to lose money on just one suit.
Okay, maybe I'm overreading, but the tone encourages overreading.

Real is a content company suing Microsoft for revenues because they can make a buck, maybe hold back Microsoft enough to gain a competitive edge. That sure doesn't make them martyrs.
