Of course the reason they are doing this
isn't necessarily to capture the small Linux desktop market, but more likely to draw people away from the Gnash project, which is a GNU supported flash player making considerable strides in mimicking Flash Player's capabilities over the last year. If Gnash succeeds in matching Flash Player's capabilities in the Linux player market then the Windows player market would soon follow, and since it's free source that could lead to free Flash editors as well, and then Adobe would lose control of the Flash market. And they can't have that, so it's more profitable to give the Linux (and 64-bit) desktop market the player they want even if it's at a loss.
