MySQL vs DB2 vs Oracle vs SQL 2005 vs Longhorn
Sure would be nice to see a comparison between MySQL and other DBMS products. I suspect that owing to object design, much of what a traditional DBA was responsible for (referential integrity, trigers, stored procedures, key constraints and data validation etc) is not really needed.

All that is done by the coders now. The products may be used now more for very fast file management and directory service functions as well as buffering of data, sql execution plans, etc.

We just do not see reporting on benchmark comparisons of database managment systems any more. I speculate that the studies are being done but owing to non disclosure agreements with Microsoft, findings are not being disclosed. How about it? Performance on duo, quad, etc servers would be very interesting.
