point taken but
This whole story isn't just forcing IT department to support all the backshop required to path MS products. An industry has oviously been built around sloppy MS programming and pathing subsequent released software and this is acceptable in todays world and has been worked into accounting IT budgets.

But that doesn't mean things can change and they are. No linux server runs a web brower but all MS servers are forced to because of their perceived loss of market share. So this is a forced product and further forced path work for each server. What's next? Are we all going to be forced to MS Office when Open Office takes even more market share?

Sure most software is patched after release but MS started this nightmare back in the early ninities and it has spread into a monthly path cycle, to be expected, and from your argument embraced as a natural occurence. It is not nor should it be considered normal, natural or tolerated.

It is up to the IT industry to get us all back on track. Why use a watered down, imitated version of Unix like Windows when you can have the real thing? DOS was after all created to mimc Unix. Windows Vista continues that. Linux is a true version of Unix, followed by the Mac OS/X (BSD).

Like all in IT know,
Mac OS/X for the desktop
Ubuntu 6.06.1 for the server

No other choice can 'free your mind', as they say.

Be good.
