...that IBM is going to make some moves in the near future that are going to make people sit up and take notice (and not in a good way). Given that IBM is a much larger company than Microsoft, has a much larger patent portfolio, has its fingers in many more pies, and is attempting to become the dominant force behind both Linux and Java, we will soon see just how much clout IBM has. How involved are IBM employees in the OSS movement? Imagine one company controlling both Linux and Java, and having major influence over all other OSS projects.
People are so focused on Microsoft that IBM is slipping under their radar, a fact not lost on IBM. You think Microsoft dominates the PC world? Just wait and see how IBM dominates the entire IT industry. I think this is what prompted the truce between Sun and Microsoft.
