It makes no sense....
in my oppinion, the basic objective of SUN is to gain access to the hidden implementation details of the .net and othe MS 'technologies'. SUN, like everyone else, knows that MS cannot cut in the server market. SUN only wants to be able to provide .net functionality off of its servers. The ms windows will be the desktops.

Ideally, one sohuld be able to use any available desktop platform to communicate to powerful backends that do the real-work. Assume that a SUN SMP is capable to do the .net hosting. It would remain Java capable as well. Then desktops can invoke server functionality with Java, sockets, or .net. There is nothing wrong with that.

The above is the ideal scenario, assuming that MS will play fairly and cooperate with SUN.

Although I distaste MS sloppy code and product 'designs' I don't see anything wrong with a Solaris SMP hosting .net functionality. It wont become a .net machine only.

Where is SUN being dragged by the nose ring?
