Now *that* is an important point.

Especially in tandem with your point regarding the "infestation" of everything by Capitalism. Absolutely true. And, contrary to the pipe dreams of Chicagoan free-marketers, perfectly consistent.

Chinese people remember how their nation was dis-assembled and parceled out among colonial powers in the 19th century; they're an old and proud nation, and they don't want to see the "scourge" of capitalism do to them what it has done to other "emerging" nations. If it takes keeping a dictatorship to prevent that, I'm pretty sure they will bite the bullet and do just that.
