The biggest mistake that developers make -- and they make this mistake ALL THE TIME -- is underestimating the importance of the administrative portions of the project.

I'll go farther: The vast majority of the developers that I've known have a tendency to understimate the difficulty of *any* of the parts of a project that lie outside their area of responsibility.

So, "little" matters like streamlining installs so they work more easily for people with little to no computer education, creting more extensive documentation, re-workign the UIs and menu systems so that they're actually *designed* to work with partially pictogrammic written languages like Japanese, Chinese and Korean, re-evaluating UI conventions for cultural appropriateness...these, of course, are just *little* "administrative" -- "non-programming" -- things that don't take much time or effort.

(So, can someone tell me again why _Mythical Man-Month_ is no longer required reading in CS and SW Eng curricula?)
