Wages aren't that low in China
My brother inlaw just spent 3 weeks working in China and those with skills do make a very good living and because thier cost of living is less. They have all the toys we have like digital cameras and TV though TV lacks channels but you can watch all the DVDs you want.

Now if you go out into the back country and see the uneducated people living in shacks scaping by in poverty I can take you to the same thing in any US city or small town.

It's very distressing to see how people can focus is so narrowly on China's poor but ignore the poor in thier very own location.
