It IS a Pather glitch
To those who are claiming this is a problem with the Oxford chipset, yes, it is. BUT:

Why did the problem not show up in previous versions of OS/X? A change was made in Panther that hit a previously unsuspected snag in the chipset.

I'm not saying Apple should have tested it, after all it's just a small subset of the chipsets that have the problem, nobody can test everything.

But it does illustrate what a good job Microsoft does in handling this kind of problem. After all, MS has to deal with this sort of thing all the time--MS works with just about ALL hardware.

Apple deals with a VERY small set of hardware in comparison.

Welcome, Apple, to the wonderful world of third party hardware... happy Mac users should think about this the next time they trash MS. This stuff is *hard*, and nobody's perfect, no matter who you root for.
