Lacies problem
You pay a premium for Apple hardware and software and
expect it to work right? Well my Apple hardware and
software work perfectly fine together. If it was a premium
Apple branded Firewire drive you could bet it would work.
Lacie should have kept up with the latest build of Panther
to ensure it would work. Even the article says that Lacie
had done the testing, not Apple. This is Lacies problem.
You can't expect Apple to test a million combinations of
3rd party peripherals with their systems, that's not what
they do. They build "the whole widget" it works fine, fast,
clean and smooth. If 3rd parties want to work with it they
need to do a better job keepin up with Apple (and keeping
up with OS builds). This article title is swayed to make it
look like Apple is bringing computers down with the install,
it should more accuratley read about Lacie's incompetence
and inability to properly test products.
