DSL price continue to decrease in Europe
With 1Mb/s accesses now rated below 15 EUR/month with a free ADSL modem, and ADSL starting to compete with cable and satellite solutions for TV, Europe goes to another direction: DSL will probably be under 10 EUR/month for & Mb/s access, and may become free if users subscribe to TV programs on a 5Mb/s ADSL accesses sold by ISPs in association to cable/satellite TV providers...
One example: in France, Free.fr offers TV + Long Distance Phone + internet + a DSL box (which integrates the modem, a router, an MPEG decoder, and a VoIP phone line) just under 30 EUR/month; The two major French satellite TV providers like TPS and CanalSatellite have joined ISPs and telcos to distribute their programs on DSL accesses.
This may soon deprecate the direct satellite in many situations, because it does not allow these providers to offer interactive content (notably Pay-on-Demand programs). So users will have one billing for multiple services: phone, on-demand TV, cinema, and now also music with legal MP3 downloads... All that on the same Internet access.
