The economy is get sneaky. Regulatory fees are just the beginning. For a $200 advertised flight, airlines tack on airport security fees, landing fees and fuel surcharges. Credit card companies charge high late fees, and hidden fees for purchases made in foreign currencies. UPS and FedEx charge fees for certain select zip codes and to remote areas. Many companies charge a restocking fee for returning purchased items. Some companies charge for paying bills online. Surcharges for items like housekeeping will generate $100 million for the hotel industry.
