Stealth DSL price increases loom

How annoying!

First, the Baby Bells cannot tell me that they didn't factor in these taxes in their cost/price analysis. To add this increase in this manner is what annoys customers about the utility companies, in general.

Secondly, and this may not be a fault of the telephone companies, if someone is paying this tax on their local phone line, are they being taxed twice if they are paying it again on the DSL line? It's (often) just the same line coming into the home and that seems unfair.

Third, I sympathize with the phone company positions about cable not being held accountable for the USF. The standard should be the same for all as they merge to provide similar, if not the same, services.
