I alwyas hate this stuff, oh lets compare DSL to Cable. This was the same stupid thing people did when it was all just dial-up service. Well i'll have you know, the bells are doing their last mile fiber project of which will probaly blow everything else away. Who cares about your silly cable or DSL connection. You'll be able to have whatever bandwidth you want to pay for over fiber. And once they have it all in they will be able to offer you cable TV service with it too... No there would be something for the cable companies to give them a run for their money.

I'm not saying that this gonna start another price war, but your baby bells have been around much longer then cable companies. They know what they are doing from experience. Besides, satalletite TV service is just as good if not better then Cable TV service, plus it's also cheaper. You don't see me complaining about price wars between them. I'd rather stick with what i like better regardless if it's cheaper or more expensive.

And just for the record, i've been a DSL customer now for about 7 years, because my cable company is just getting around to putting in cable modem service in our area on certain streets. So i'd probally have another 2-3 years to wait on cablevision. I think i'll stick with my nice and fast DSL service that serves me well and have very little to none in the way of problems with it.

In this situtation, it wasn't cheaper was better, it was more like it was the only thing availible in a town that's in a major metropolition area (close to NYC) just cable companies sleeping on the job. If they had cable modem services 6, 7 years ago, i would of gotten that service and given it a try. But now i like my DSL service, plus it's now 1.5 MBps for the same price i was paying for 768K service.

Sorry cable guys, but i have a better and more secure internet connection.
