Solution: Create an IFolder on a public server
The solution with a peer to peer system like IFolder is to have IFolder "mirrors" on public servers, which synchronise when the peer IFolders are connected to the network. In the same way, you can set up other IFolders "mirrors" on achive and backup hosts.

This might sound a waste of drive space, but consider that the smallest hard drive you get with current desktop machines is around 40 GiB( Gigabytes ). With a five to eight meg partition for the OS, the rest the drive is free for encrypted directories/partitions. Also there is nothing to prevent you from hosting IFolders on SAMBA servers, accessing the content via network shares.

The IFolder client does provides indexing and search interfaces, and the early Simias object repository can be fronted by web server.

Because the source is GPL'ed, I expect that plugin functionality to other free licensed content managers will soon be in demand and available.
