So where is the story in this? Companies invest in other companies all the time. Microsoft invested in Apple at one point. Microsoft bought licences of Unix from SCO.

I wouldn't reference groklaw as a credible source. PJ has shown over and over again that her site is not worthy on any news and she assumes a heck of a lot which is mostly made up.

Although the declaration does not indicate any actual money was paid by Microsoft

No money paid by Microsoft? So back to PJ and her cronies assuming things trying to present them as fact. No money paid so this isn't an issue. End of story.
