Now that we are mid-way through 2008, we can see that Ubuntu has done nothing but get better, add more value to the computing community, and become a very strong player. Reading these 2006 comments makes it clear that the cynics missed important things that Shuttleworth correctly foresaw.

Ubuntu remains the #1 Linux distro for good reason. And, importantly, Ubuntu is lifting the entire Linux and FLOSS communities.

There is a lot of good happening. Strong cynical attitudes don't help FLOSS (or much of anything else for that matter).
