i see what you're saying but
These "industry" people are trying to outlaw all sorts of activity and squeeze every last cent out of any media, period. If they get theri way you'll have to swipe your debit card into your speakers before you hear anything. A Turner exec said about Tivo, that cutting out commercials is "theft". Where does the insanity end?

If they get their way there won't be any IP period b/c the incentive to create will be lost to the major corps, who are too powerful and are running away buying Legislators and changing the laws to suit THEIR needs.

It's way out of control.

Here we are talking about big rich executives and the major label artists who have millions and millions of dollars, cars galore, mansions, etc - and I'm supposed to feel sorry for them that some people don't pay for their stuff? Give me a break. they aren't starving and even with all the downloading in its heyday they would never go hungry. This is a made up issue made to squeeze ever last cent that they can get. It's that simple, and I don't buy it, excuse the pun.

If they want to go after "pirates" go after pirates. Pirates get the stuff and then sell it to make their own profit, cutting the originator out of the loop. These people who download and have no intention of profiting in a real way - and listening is not profiting in a real way that's just more lawyereze for you to choke on in this out of control wacked out litigious society we now live in (kill the lawyers please) - are NOT pirates. the problem is that most people have ZERO critical thinking skills and can be manipulated easily by the lawyers and double talkers. Legislators are no exception, and let's face it they are also in it for the money, power, what have you.

It's all a big farce, and it's high time this all is relegated to the dustbin where it belongs.

The Justice Dept should be tracking terrorists and dangerous criminals and the legal system should be left to real crime, not this petty stuff which isn't really hurting anyone.
