Such blatant rhetoric from Gates called "hardball"
Microsoft has relied less on rhetoric and more on hardball business tactics.

Where do they come up with this nonsense. Let's look at the "harball" drivel.

But Gates has in the past made it clear that the two companies are worlds apart in philosophy.

Open vs. Closed ... I got that part.

"Sun's pretty much almost about as pure as you can get as a competitor (to Microsoft). Sun believes in expensive hardware.

Funny, Sun had the IPC bundled up as a PC LAN server before MS even had a network stack in Windows. Not only did it blow any any Windows based server in performance but it was half the cost and it came with mega-pixel graphics when MS still thought 640x480 was a major accomplishment. I mean, really, Sun made its name on selling faster cheaper machines and even its highest end box still meets that test.

They think that software R&D shouldn't be funded;

I must have missed that press release. I got distracted reading all the technical documentation for Sun's various OS R&D efforts over the years. In fact, Sun has probaly out spent MS on OS R&D, they certainly have out delivered over the years!

And if Sun did not believe in IP, how come they bought livcenses to everything and its MS getting sued by everyone for stealing and corrupting others IP rights.

they think the idea of empowering knowledge workers is a bad idea," he told CNET News.com in 2001.

Hmm, did Gates forget that his very own "knowlege workers" used Sun technology to build their empire. He probaly forgot that decade because he certainly could not have missed all the Sun technology his company used to bootstrap his own IP. Without Sun, MS would probaly never had had a development platform to copy!

LOL, every one of his claims was bogus, biased, and unchallenged by this "author".
