That joke almost works until you remember that both of Gates' parents were trust fund babies - rich before they were even born. They never had any time in their lives when they had to "make ends meet". Despite that Bill, "William", was accurately named.

The name "William" means "conqueror" or "invader". In both senses Bill Gates III has lived up to his name.
