The vast majority haven't heard of the GPL
Most people use Windows, and probably would think GPL is some kind of sandwich.

Richard Stallman doesn't seem to be forcing anything down anyone's throats however. Coders as ever can choose what licence to use.

Personally I've released GPL2 software. But I wouldn't again.

I think community software is an interesting anomaly thrown up by the internet, but the powerful tools that the proprietary software model has given birth to clearly shows that paying coders to write software makes better software. And the gap is widening. Proprietary software is accelerating into the distance.
