you are so pathetically funny! Hey how is that single thread main frame running by the way? Did you ever answer the question about where some of the components are made?
IM is another communications tool. Yes little Timmy and Sally use it to play, but serious programmers and business folks that are up with the times and in tune with the real costs of other methods of communication, use it to save time and money.
How many times have you had to ask someone in a conference call to repeat themselves? Or totally missed what one person was saying because he / she got trampled on by another speaker? IM prevents that. If you miss something, scroll up. It's in sequence and in one place. Unlike e-mail, which takes time, especially if there are more than 4 people involved.
But then again, you still are using a single threaded main frame, while the rest of the world is on multi-thread / multi-task systems moving into the world of 64bit arcitecture... you are still pluggin away on your abacus and single thread main frame!
