The cost of 14,000 desktop at 500 US$ is just 7,000.000
The cost of 14,000 copies of Windows at 500 US$ is just 7,000,000. Double that to get Office, it juyst 14,000,000.

And that is even a very high estimate.

If they just get the upgrade, then much cheaper.

Maybe thsy have old computers (Pentium 1 and Pentium II).

Plus the fact that they could only migrate 80%, meaning they still use Windows - they are now on a mixed environment which is much more difficult to maintain.

But as we know it, they are just strting yet. So the cost could even double or tripple. So where is the econmoics here.

We will see what happens in thre to five years. Or even next year, why the user who would try Vista's improvement would expect the same nice interface in their office computer.

I have just seen a glipmse of Vista, and XP lloked a decade older. Linux which has been like Windows 95 would look 2 decades older than Vista.
