The benefits of bloatware
People are constantly crticising MS for Office as bloatware. While it's true that most users of Word for example, would only use around 15-30% of Word features, there's one huge thing that people are missing.

IT'S NOT THE SAME 15-30%

That's because all kinds of people use Office for all kinds of things. What you view as bloatware is someone else's critical feature. Now OO fresh from making very minor inroads into Office territory wants to increase it's vulnerability by using plug-ins, so it won't be looked on as the poor relative.

OO is fine for the less well off, the cheap and the cults - hell I even installed it for my mother (which caused no end of bitching in the family as they could no longer read her short stories - I must put Doc format as the default)

In the end, greater functionality will always bring greater vulnerability. You just have to decide what's more important.
